Argentine Tango DVD and CD Review

Christmas is fast approaching, and the race has already begun (albeit it began back in August for shoppers in Selfridges!) to get all the presents you need to cater for your loved ones.

Whether you’ve yet scoured the internet for that perfect gift or not, one suggestion for any dance fan you may know are the recently released CD and DVDs endorsed by ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ stars Flavia Cacace and Vincent Simone.

Since the aforementioned BBC show has reignited the dance industry in the UK, enthusing young and old, male and female, shops have been flooded with similar gift items. So how do these ones compare?

Let’s begin with Nebulosa, a new CD compilation of tango music from composer Sean A McGee, which has since been endorsed by the ‘Strictly’ pair. Backed by strong electronic elements, the music has a firm foot in the ‘ElectroTango’ genre, and boasts a chillout edge in addition to the usual catchy rhythm tango music must possess. It seems a great gift for someone who is a dance lover, and wants to break away from the usual CD compilations.

Next, is a new instructional Argentine Tango DVD from Flavia and Vincent. It is the third DVD in the series, with this being the most advanced. It concentrates on the tango vals and milonga, with the two dancers explaining in detail how to master these steps. Again, this is aimed at someone who wants to advance their dancing ability.

We are sure that any ‘Strictly’ fan would be pleased to receive either gift under their Christmas tree come the 25th December.
