• 'Midnight Tango' Review

It must be something about 12am. First we recently voted ‘Midnight in Paris’ to be our favourite film of the past year, and now we think ‘Midnight Tango’ may just be the best dance show of this. The show starring Strictly Come Dancing’s Vincent and Flavia toured during 2011 but is now enjoying a ten week stint in London’s West End and we were invited along to witness the dance extravaganza.

The show comprises of (shock, horror) a number of tango routines performed amidst the construct of a loose story line. The action is set in an Argentinean bar and live music is supplied by Tango Siempre in a Gypsy Kings-esque style.

The cast is made up of ten of the finest tango dancers in the world, yet it is still the stars Vincent and Flavia who shine the brightest. The pair who have wowed audiences on ‘Strictly’ are even better in real life, with both having great stage presence to match their unbeatable dance talent.

Even for someone who isn’t a dance fan, some of their routines are truly awe-inspiring. With the rapid intertwining of legs, the kicks and flicks, we were just amazed nobody ended up hurt. If you are a fan of ‘Strictly’ then this show is definitely for you; not only does it contain the two best dancers but it is also very cleverly staged and executed.
