‘Inside Job’ is not a film which upon its UK release will appeal to the masses. However, it should do.
The film, which debuted at The Cannes Film Festival last year, provides an intriguing insight into the financial problems the world has been suffering and documents the fall of America’s largest banks. Utilizing interviews with economists and politicians, it reveals just how close the USA came to the brink of bankruptcy - and why it could all so easily happen again.
Narrated by Matt Damon, the film may put off some viewers due to the financial jargon used throughout, and at times the film does appear to be directed at those in the industry or as an educational video to be shown in an Economics class, rather than the general public.
Despite this, the gist of the film is clear, and the moments in which the interviewees begin to squirm in their seats upon hearing tough questions will amuse anyone.
It is no surprise that many of those who would have had the toughest time in the interviews declined to play any role in the film.
Overall, this film looks in-depth at the financial meltdown that has triggered countless problems across the globe and the issues raised affect everyone. If you want to know what really happens on Wall Street, then this well-made documentary is perfect.
Running Time: 1 hr 48 min. Release Date: 18th February 2011
