As host of The British Comedy Awards on Saturday night, Jonathan Ross in characteristic style poked fun at some of the celebrities in attendance.
And in the wake of Ricky Gervais’ much talked about hosting of the Golden Globe Awards in America, Ross was quick to make a joke about when things had been getting on top of him and he wanted to be alone, he "went to see Ricky's film Cemetery Junction".
However, Ross speaking backstage afterwards defended Gervais, commenting, “I thought he did a great job, and he was very funny.”
He elaborated on how different ceremonies require different roles from the host.
“I’m doing the BAFTAS in a few weeks time and I’ll use a different kind of script and do something appropriate for it.”
Having handed out numerous awards to comedians on the night, Ross also commented on who makes him laugh.
“I love Mitchell and Webb, Kevin Bridges, John Bishop.
I love Michael McIntyre, I think he’s fantastic. I’ve worked with him a bit and I’ve never seen him short of a gag.
And of course I’m going to have to say Russell Brand and that is despite certain issues!”
