The debate over what should happen to the Olympic Stadium following London 2012 is still raging, and we asked one of Britain’s most successful swimmers of all time his opinion.
Speaking at the UK premiere of ‘Yogi Bear’, the brand new 3D animated film, Mark Foster told us:
‘I’d love to see it stay an athletics stadium. I really, really would.
I don’t know if it’s possible, and what you don’t want is it to become like Crystal Palace and it gets used twice a year.
So from that point of view I see why Tottenham’s bid is what it is.
But if it could be a football stadium and have an athletics track that would be the best outcome.
It needs to be used, as Crystal Palace just sits there. It's a white elephant.
Such a big, fantastic stadium needs to have as many events in there as possible and not even just athletics.’
The decision over the future of the Olympic Stadium is expected to be made in the near future, with both Tottenham Hotspur FC and West Ham United FC vying to take it over.
