'RIO' Premiere

Animated 3D movie ‘RIO’ premiered in London’s Leicester Square on Sunday with a host of celebrities in attendance.

From the creators of the hit ‘ICE AGE’, ‘RIO’ is a hilarious animated adventure about a domesticated Macaw, Blu, who never learned to fly, and was content living a comfortable life with his owner and best friend Linda in the small town of Moose Lake, Minnesota.

Blu and Linda think he's the last of his kind, but when they learn about another Macaw who lives in Rio de Janeiro, they head to the faraway and exotic land to find Jewel, Blu's female counterpart. Not long after they arrive, Blu and Jewel are kidnapped by a group of bungling animal smugglers. With the help of street smart Jewel, and a group of wise-cracking and smooth-talking city birds, Blu escapes.

Now, with his new friends by his side, Blu will have to find the courage to learn to fly, thwart the kidnappers who are hot on their trail, and return to Linda, the best friend a bird ever had.

The film is thoroughly enjoyable, and will have kids enthralled. The 3D element of the movie works successfully and transports you to the magic of the Rio carnival from the comfort of your cinema seat. The film is further enhanced by the array of superstars voicing the animated characters such as Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eisenberg and will.i.am.

On the Red Carpet, Comic Relief ‘Let’s Dance’ champion Charlie Baker, ‘Daybreak’s Kate Garraway and former model Linda Lusardi were all excited to see the new movie. And I’m sure they weren’t left disappointed.

‘RIO’ will be released in cinemas across the UK on the 8th April.
