Sirens, Stilettos And The Sound Of A New Girl Band

Geordie trio Katherine Monaco, Karina Chambers and Lea Reynolds AKA ‘Sirens’ are set to release their brand new single ‘Stilettos.’ A new girl band you say? Well in fact this girl band has been around for a number of years, touring the Far East to the USA, but they are now looking to score success back in their homeland.

The press release states it is currently a good time to be a Geordie, what with Ant and Dec stealing Saturday nights, Cheryl Cole stealing the nation’s heart and the voiceover guy from ‘Big Brother’ stealing the limelight for one last time.

However, are the Sirens set to join this elite list of Toon success stories?

From listening to the Promo disk boasting the aforementioned new single, plus tracks ‘Good Enough’ and ‘Headlines’, the sound of the band is similar to that of The Pussycat Dolls, combining dance beats with Pop lyrics.

Although, and perhaps being harsh, the tracks are not offering anything new, the catchy songs could find themselves being played in clubs across the country.

Their music videos play on billboards across Japan, their previous single was used as a sound-bed for MTV hit ‘The Hills’ and second album ‘Club LaLa’ became a huge US hit on airwaves and dance floors alike.

It will be interesting now to see if the group’s forthcoming third album, incidentally entitled ‘3’, will provide the break-through the Sirens have been searching for in the UK.
